Electrical Energy, Energy Transformations and Sources

Utilise electrical consumption data to draft an energy usage plan and make a change today.'

Overview

In this unit students explore how electrical energy can be generated from a range of energy sources and how this energy is transformed in electrical circuits. Students use school and household consumption data to develop their understanding of energy usage and to develop a personal plan to make a difference.

Key Activities

  • Explore energy and energy sources

  • Explore alternative energy sources

  • Investigate electrical energy and circuits

  • Investigate photovoltaic cells and their performance

  • Audit personal and school energy usage and devise a plan to make a difference

  • Analyse solar energy data (Mathematics)

Key Concepts

  • Electrical energy can be transferred and transformed in electrical circuits and can be generated from a range of sources

  • Use of renewable energies is necessary for sustainable energy use.
